STAY AWAY FROM VACATION CLUB SCAM

First off, let me say that I love the Bahamas and have been returning for travel at least twice a year since 2009. This is why I have been looking to purchase some sort of property or vacation rental. I have never had a bad experience with the lovely people of the islands until my last visit November 28th-Dec 3rd 2013. I was coerced into a contract with Ocean Reef Resort/Vacation club in which I was informed that I can cancel at any time if I feel I am no longer benefiting from the club. I read the contract before signing in which I understood that in order to get a full refund, I must cancel in three days. Nowhere else in the contract did it discuss termination procedures. Therefore I asked the representative Brian and his manager David about cancellation. I was informed that I can cancel at anytime, however I will forfeit my down payment and closing cost. There were a series of misrepresentations that we were informed of which is why we decided we wanted to cancel our relationship with them. However, when I called to cancel during the 3 day window, I could not get in touch with the club. I could not fax them from my office or home line to the international number provided. I finally got a hold of them on the fourth day of my contract. I informed them of the situation, however they stated that I cannot cancel my membership and rudely stated that I should have read and made sure that I understood the contract before signing. The representative also informed me I could went to a Kinkos or Staples store to fax them. Funny, when they wanted our money they provided us with a driver, breakfast lunch and all the hospitality you could imagine. I was very upset at this, these were the same individuals who were treating us so nice and there to explain all the contract,to make sure we understood what we were signing, now they were dismissing me. I explained that I was willing to loose the down payment, but I still want to cancel my membership because I do not appreciate how they conducted their business. I am very disappointed and sadden by the way they have treated my Husband and I and would like your attention on the matter.
