THE Bahamas was braced on Wednesday for a brush with Hurricane Joaquin, which was expected to pass near the islands of San Salvador, Cat Island, Eleuthera and Rum Cay late on Thursday and early on Friday, close enough that it could bring tropical-storm-force winds, coastal flooding and five to ten inches of rain according to forecasters.

Residents braced for 'severe weather'

GRAND BAHAMA and Abaco residents braced themselves for heavy rains as weather officials posted a severe thunderstorm warning yesterday.
