Get your dogs ready to strut their stuff at the Humane Society of Grand Bahama's annual dog show Saturday, March 3rd!

Don't have a dog? Come in and choose a shelter dog to show off for the day! Or just come out and enjoy the big variety of beautiful dogs, from tiny to giant, from purebred to mixed breed to our amazing Royal Bahamian Potcakes. There will be plenty to do in between events for adults and kids alike.

There will be a Chinese Raffle with some great prizes, and you can quench your thirst and get something tasty to eat at the grill or the bake sale. There will be fun activities for kids, and of course we welcome everyone to tour our shelter.

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for kids over two. Entering your dog is $10 per group or category entered.

Andros Harvest Festival

This two-day, family-oriented event draws patrons from both the domestic and international spectrum. The Harvest Fest is a grand celebration of the bountiful natural resources of Andros and its creative people. Its objectives are to expose visitors to the local Bahamian hospitality; create a temporary marketplace for fishermen and farmers at the height of the traditional fishing season, and beginning of the winter fruit and vegetable harvest season; promote the consumption of traditional Bahamian foods, beverages and confectioneries; showcase Androsia textile, arts and craft items; stage quality family activities and great entertainment, including beach activities and competitions for children, singing, music, dancing, a fashion show and Junkanoo performances.

Venue is the Lighthouse Club & Marina in Andros Town, Central Andros.

Fish Fry at James Cistern

Each Saturday night, within three months of the annual homecoming in James Cistern, the Heritage Affair Homecoming Committee holds a fish fry under the cork tree to raise funds. This attracts persons from the community and neighboring settlements for an evening of eating tasty conch fritters, peas and rice, baked macaroni and cheese, and barbecue chicken that is cooked on an outside grill. There is also an assortment of drinks available, plus dancing in the street to some good old Bahamian music.
