Inclusion, Advocacy and Human Rights with the Law Community, Parents and Community Organizations

The Embassy of the United States of America will be hosting an Autism conference entitled ?Autism ? Promoting Inclusion, Advocacy and Early Detection,? September 11-13, 2013 in Nassau. This initiative is in response to the Prime Minister?s desire to provide a forum to address the matter in The Bahamas.

Professor Valerie L. Karr, a Special Education Specialist at Adelphi University, New York will conduct several workshops and training in collaboration with health, education and social services administrators, including the Prime Minister?s task force on ?Children and Young Persons with Special Needs.?

Dr. Karr will conduct a workshop via Skype with teachers, administrators and The College of The Bahamas Faculty members on Grand Bahama.

Presentations will also include a discussion with parents and community
organizations.

Your attendance is also requested at the Discussion on ?Inclusion, Advocacy and Human Rights? with the Law Community, Parents and Community Organizations at the conference with Dr. Karr. THE PRESENCE OF STUDENTS AND ASSOCIATES IS REQUESTED.

Where: Harry C. Moore Library Auditorium at The College of The Bahamas Oakes Field Campus.

Time: 9:00am-2:00pm

Topics to be discussed: Advocacy, Disability Rights, Human Rights, New Technology for Teaching, Early Detection and Screening, and Awareness Campaigns.
