The State of The Tourism Industry Conference

Tuesday 2nd October 2018

We take great pleasure in inviting you to our annual State of the Tourism Industry Conference scheduled to be held in the Bahamas, October 2-5, at the Atlantis, Paradise Island.

In discussions under the theme, Rejuvenate, Recreate, Reconnect, New Directions for Caribbean Tourism, we recognize that in order to continue to grow tourism in a way that's sustainable and beneficial to all our communities, we must build an industry that is resilient, nimble and adaptable to changing situations. The theme also reflects the Caribbean Year of Rejuvenation and Wellness. Wellness is a $3.7 trillion segment which the Caribbean is ideally positioned to fully exploit.

This year's SOTIC will be different in other ways - each of the three full days will be themed. Day One will feature Recreate when the focus will be on topics such as innovation, and building better, not just the physical infrastructure, but on developing completely immersive experiences that are driven by technology. Day Two will focus on Rejuvenation, when participants at the Caribbean Youth Congress add their vitality, freshness and unique perspective to the discussions. We will also delve into efforts underway through collaboration amongst regional and long-haul carriers to improve the travel experience to and within the Caribbean for residents and visitors. On the third day we will focus on Reconnect and explore the powerful potential of Cultural Heritage which we will call "Roots" Tourism.

A common thread throughout the conference programme will be a recognition that holidaymakers are no longer just interested in ticking destinations off their bucket list, but about accomplishing something they have never done before, while being conscious of the impact they have on communities they visit.
SOTIC 2018 is designed to deliver successful strategies that will result in a new direction in Caribbean tourism for the benefit of all stakeholders. Please join us and make your contributions to the discussions.

A local delegates registration form is attached for your review and use and you may find additional details on the Conference at www.sotic.onecaribbean.org/.
