You are invited to the Opening Night Reception of Birth Mark at The Ladder Gallery on Blake Road in the New Providence Community Centre on Thursday, October 13th, 2011 from 6:30 to 9pm.

Birth Mark is an art exhibition featuring new works by emerging artists Charlthorn Strachan, Preston Hanna & Javon Nixon.

To artist Preston Hanna, "Birth Mark is a selection of work that identifies icons and people who have made their mark and are readily identifiable in the world we live in today."

To artist Javon Nixon, "Birth Mark is that consistent mark that can be found throughout human kind. My series is meant to show women in the instances that can be interchangeable within race, class and nationality.

To artist Charlthorn Strachan: "Birth Mark" to me is our awakened life. As human beings we strive to define ourselves in every aspect of life and in doing this, we seek for ideas that are new to this world. My subject translates the message of our Bahamian ?birth marks?, showing the sleeping child to the fully awakened adult which conveys how a person?s life can consist of two totally different birth stones. That is, one that is natural and the other acquired."
