Bahama Performing Arts Society inspire youth of Grand Bahama through
their music workshops held at the Bishop Michael Eldon Auditorium
Friday, January 20th, 2011.

Tannis Gibson on piano, Janna Lower,
violinist; Mark Tanner, cellist; and guest flutist, Judith Pearce
provided a free mini concert and workshop for two attentive and animated
groups of students from a variety of different schools on the island.
It is estimated that between both sessions the group attracted almost
800 students.

from a year earlier when it was 6.8%.In May 2007, five years later it
was 8.8%, an increase of about 38%. ?

In point of fact, Grand Bahama's unemployment rate grew every year from
2002 to 2007, except in 2006 when it took a slight dip to 8.4 from 11%,
still a full 1.5 percentage point higher than it was in 2002.This was
all indicative of a troubled economy beginning in 2003.?

No new investments, domestic or international;? The devastation caused by hurricanes Frances and Jeanne, particularly
closure of Royal Oasis, with no appropriate economic response; andThe
death of Edward St. George and the ensuing, protracted destabilization
of the Grand Bahama Port

Bahama Island - The 40th

Annual Bernie Butler BASRA Swim Marathon and Beach
Party took place on August 21st at Coral Beach in Freeport.  Each
summer the Bahamas Air Sea Rescue Association organizes this family
favourite to raise funds. This year was deemed by those in attendance,
and from organizers, as the best ever!

See PHOTOS of the event within. 

Maya
Albury of Freeport came out 1st overall for the women, and Dustin
Tynes, also of Freeport came out 1st overall for the men.
