BIFF Announces Retrospectives of Corman Classics

Nassau, Bahamas –The focus of the inaugural Bahamas International Film Festival's retrospectives are the work of the quintessential maverick of filmmaking, Roger Corman, and three classic movie musicals.


Roger Corman has had a long, varied and distinguished career, beginning in the 50's and 60's when he blazed a pioneering trail as an independent producer and director, making a phenomenal number of low-budget features in a variety of genres. He produced more than 550 films and directed 50 others since, including THE LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, THE WILD ANGELS and THE TRIP, and his unique abilities as a mentor have launched numerous stellar careers, including John Sayles, Sandra Bullock, Robert DeNiro, Peter Fonda, Peter Bogdanovich, James Cameron, Francis Ford Coppola, Jonathan Demme and Ron Howard. We are please to honor Roger Corman at a special reception and to present three of his films, including:


LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS by Roger Corman

A classic dark comedy about a young schnook who develops a bloodthirsty plant and then is forced to kill in order to feed it. Directed by Roger Corman and starring a young Jack Nicholson, the film was the basis for the hit stage musical and movie.

LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS screens on Saturday, December 11, 2004 at 8:45 PM on the Atlantis Royal Deck.


CRAZY MAMA by Jonathan Demme, Roger Corman, Producer

Academy-Award winning director Jonathan Demme directs this joyous, kitchy celebration of 50's America: opportunity, rock 'n' roll, and the open road. He follows three generations of women and the men they pick up from a crime spree in California to the old family homestead in Arkansas. CRAZY MAMA screens on Sunday, December 12, 2004 at 9:30 pm at the Galleria 6.


BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS by Jimmy T. Murakami, Roger Corman, Producer
