Description
Bahamasair, the National Flag Carrier of the Bahamas came about as a result of the discontinuation of service by British Airways in 1970 and Pan American Airlines in 1973 due to the fuel crisis. These occurrences left an unacceptable void in the Bahamian transportation industry, and thus negatively impacted the tourism industry and the lives of persons living in the Family Islands.
The Bahamas relied very heavily on tourism, so Bahamasair was perceived to be part of the solution to the air transport problem, and as such was slated to provide essential transportation infrastructure and some insurance against the total disruption of the Tourism Industry. Thus in October 1970, Bahamasair was formed under the Companies Act as a wholly owned Government entity. The Bahamian people welcomed this.

Pedro Richards supervisor Bahamasair And the entire team are horrible. Not only did they know at 9a they had issues with a plane they didn?t notify ANY passengers that had later flights of the delay. So all the passengers were everywhere since there were no seats. They did not even bring water up after all food services closed. They were rude the entire time which made the passengers more and more angry. They would announce more information to come at x:xx time then five minutes later change the announcement time to later. When we checked in at 2p they refused to refund our tickets so we could fly a different airline and now we still sit 7hrs later no information, no flights, no food, no water. OH BUT WAIT it gets better. Pedro and his other employees got fresh drinks right in front of us!!! What could have been easily managed has turned into a MESS. Never again will I fly this crap of an airline. Cheap Allegiant Air spins circles around them.
