The British High Commission has reopened in Nassau. The British High Commission does not issue passports or visas. Details follow below on access to public services.
Emergency assistance: British people in difficulty (e.g. have been arrested or hospitalised) in The Bahamas can contact Consular services by telephone 24/7 – Call 225-6033 then press “2” for consular services; or call the Foreign Office in London on +44 20 7008 1500.
Passports:The British government issues all passports including renewals in the UK. You can apply for your passport online at www.gov.uk/apply-renew-passports or in person by appointment at one of the UK passport offices in Belfast, Durham, Glasgow, Liverpool, London, Newport and Peterborough.
Visas: Bahamian nationals do not need a visa to visit the UK for periods of less than 6 months. Visas are required for purposes of study, work or settlement. Customers should seek information and apply for visas via www.gov.uk/visas. At least once a month there is a visa clinic in Nassau to collect applications and biometric data. This is by appointment only which can be booked as part of the online application process.
