Similar to our mission our goals and long term aspirations are to create a bridge for individuals who study and teach Yoga and the Pilates method. Pilates like Yoga is a form of kinesthetic and energetic movement that interconnects the inner and outer world of the human being. Through the theoretical (and practical) study of these two disciplines, we can begin to bridge this divide and separation, generating a philosophical understanding of Yoga and Pilates.
Even though many manuals and books have been written about the Pilates Method, our company is attempting to create programming, along with a curriculum that solidifies the understanding of Pilates within the realm of health, fitness, wellness as well as education.
Many companies specializing in teaching different approaches to the Pilates Method view this system as a form of physical exercise and training. However, NWCC Pilates curriculum and material recognizes this system of kinesthetic movement and exercise as an approach toward greater health and well - being. Pilates is not a means to an end but rather an end to a means a means of becoming more healthy and happy. Every part of our system of exercise and training has value in itself. We understand that the sum is the expression of the whole as the sum reflects the parts of the whole.
More recently, Yoga education has become popular among teachers and educators. Even though we have become a society that has technologically advanced in many ways, yet the need for interconnection and interdependence has never been greater. The discipline of Yoga is important to bridge this divide of the self and therefore return to the self. The ancient culture and traditions of Hatha and Raja Yoga has many roots, which fulfill the whole individual.
We have adapted a theoretical methodology of Pilates, namely Bodiesology as a modern point of view, whereby based on the understanding of the science, including the biomechanics and anatomy of the body; as well we integrate the physics of energy and consciousness in our teaching, which recognizes the eastern philosophy and model of science.
Within our series of teaching manuals namely, Pure Philosophy: The Essence of Pilates, we discuss the theoretical understanding of Bodiesology as a potential for kinesthetic and energetic movement within the human body.
