Xavier's Lower School, a Roman Catholic School, established by the Sisters of Charity in 1889. It was the only girls school in the Bahamas and was the counterpart to the St. Augustine's College that was an all male Catholic school that was administered by the Monks and Catholic Priests. However, in 1967 Xavier's College became an elementary school for boys and girls ages 5 to 12 years and the students from this school, upon graduation, were transferred to St. Augustine's College that became a co-ed High School.
