PHD Access History:
1984
PHD Modular Access Services Limited was founded as PHD Scaffolding Ltd.

1990
PHD invests a property portfolio and other acquisitions.

PHD win the contract to scaffold the Victoria Tower of the Houses of Parliament. Being the most technically demanding job undertaken to date, PHD invested 870k in new equipment for this project.

1991
Following a strategy of heavy reinvestment and growth, PHD became self sufficient in Tube Fitting & Board.

1992
The PHD Group was exposed to the slump in the property market in the South East of England where it suffered major losses. This forced the owners to sell the company to an International listed PLC. The owners retained the right to the name, which was well respected in the UK, having built relationships with several blue chip clients.

1997
After an earn out and a non compete period of 5 years PHD, a name strongly identified with quality and technical advancement, re-surfaced in the Middle East, Caribbean and anywhere specialist access solutions was required on major World class projects.

PHD was now advising and supplying to the Burj Al Arab in Dubai, working on the Atlantis in Bahamas, the Venetian in Las Vegas as well as the Toyota Project in Northern France. Some specialist projects were also undertaken in the UK, mostly where mast climbers were required.

1999
PHD achieved a market share of 9m.

2000
PHD Ireland was launched and quickly carved out a niche on technical projects for the OPW (Office of Public Works). PHD provided access to Irish Stately Homes. These buildings needed temporary roof covers and access for restoration.

All these projects, like the Palace of Westminster in London, needed care and attention and a scaffolding and access company who had an appreciation and understanding for the complexities of restoring historical buildings.

PHD doesnt just provide services on the old monuments but also on the new, we provided scaffold for the Boyne River crossing. This Cable truss bridge was the highest structure in Ireland, we also provided access for Sisk Strabag on the 2nd Liffey Valley Bridge Crossing.

2003
PHD Ireland was sold to the Local Irish Partners.

2004/05
Shifted focus of activities back to the UK market and also concentrated on the Bahamas Market which was the lifeline of the business.

2006
Another feature on the hat of PHD, involved with the Atlantis project on Palm Jumeirah in Dubai. This being the centre piece on the Palm Crescent allowed PHD to provide scaffolding and Access for Kerzner Internationals flagship project in Dubai.

2007/08
PHD once re-established in the UK focused on major Commercial, Retail and Power projects. We have now developed a client list, which is the envy of our competitors and continue to grow undertaking more technical projects world wide.

PHD employs personnel with great fortitude and a head for heights. The archive photograph shows one of our scaffolders dismantling the Spire at Hillingdon Town Hall.

PHD has been successfully servicing the scaffolding and access market in the UK and abroad for 24 years.

PHD now has centres in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Middle East & the Caribbean with a combined turnover of over $30 million.
