Disabled Persons' Organization Benefits from the Kindness of Strangers

It's amazing what small change can bring. For the individuals of the Disabled Persons' Organization, coins from the waterfall in the new U.S. Departure Terminal at LPIA brought 60 pounds of "benefits" for much needed assistive devices. The group is the second charitable organization to receive the coin donation from Nassau Airport Development Company officials.

Breathe Easy campaign raises almost $400,000

Despite the current economic climate, more than 150 private and corporate entities nation-wide contributed to a life-saving fundraiser for high risk, premature, or critically ill new borns.

Organized by the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, The Rotary Club of East Nassau, Doctors Hospital, The Tribune Media, and Tile King, the "Breathe Easy Campaign" raised nearly $400,000.
