In 1977 Sandy and Hugh Buckner, the Sandyport developers, came to the Bahamas. They fell in love with the beauty of the ocean, so much that in 1988 they joined with François Spoerry, a world-renowned French architect, to design and develop Sandyport. Hugh Buckner decided on the name Sandyport not because of the powdery white sands at the beaches, but in honor of his wife Sandy.

Philip was born and raised in the Bahamas. Following his Bachelors Degree in Management and Marketing from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology in England. Philip moved to New York where he obtained an Associate Degree in Fashion Merchandising Management from the Fashion Institute of Technology. He then went on to work for Estee Lauder and consulted for his family's businesses in the Bahamas. In 2006 he moved to London to take up a new career in the property market. He attracted the attention of firms in Belgravia and Chelsea where he became known for his honest advice and opinions. His nine years of working with High Net Worth clients and his long list of contacts have provided him with an excellent foundation in property. In May 2015 Philip accepted an offer to be a Sales Executive at Baha Mar and returned to the Bahamas to sell the residences at the much anticipated resort. Not to be discouraged, Philip sat his Bahamas Real Estate Association exams in October 2015 and obtained his real estate license in January 2016. He has the good fortune to have been invited to join the oldest Real Estate firm in the Bahamas, namely H.G. Christie as a Sales Associate.
