Iola was born and raised in Nassau, Bahamas. After attending boarding school in Zug, Switzerland she enrolled in college and pursued an undergraduate degree at Elon University in North Carolina where she graduated with honors as a Corporate Communications major and a minor in Spanish. In 2003, she moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL where she began working with The Bahama Out Islands Promotion Board, a job that provided her the opportunity to travel the Out Islands extensively and learn about her own country's history and culture. The reach and network she developed with Out Island hoteliers and businessmen helped to catapult her career with the promotion board and develop her contacts with key projects happening in the islands. Despite her success at that time, she then decided to enroll in graduate school on weekends and pursued a Master's Degree in Business Management and Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL where she completed her degree and graduated in September 2006. Having worked abroad in the tourism capacity for The Bahamas, Iola decided she wanted to become more involved with her country firsthand and decided to return home to Nassau full-time to pursue a career in the real estate industry. Iola's greatest passion is working for her country. Her hope is that all Bahamians will be proud of their homeland and will help to make The Bahamas a better place for Bahamians to live and visitors and investors to enjoy. Having been exposed to tourism and having traveled all of her life, she realizes the potential growth of The Bahamas. Iola speaks Swiss German and some high German. She completed her BREA examination in February 2007 and the appraisal apprenticeship in February 2010.
