A Dan Knowles Tours bus caught fire on the side of John F. Kennedy Drive yesterday, just a few feet away from the airport police station, but no one was hurt, police said.
Superintendent Walter Evans said officials received reports of the blaze shortly before 1 p.m., but other details surrounding the incident remained unclear up to press time.
The westbound side of John F. Kennedy Drive between two roundabouts was closed to motorists for about 30 minutes as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.
It is also unclear if there were passengers onboard the bus when the fire started.
Company representatives were unavailable for comment up to press time.
The Nassau Guardian understands the bus operator escaped unscathed.
The tour bus was left charred alongside the road after the blaze was extinguished around 1:30 p.m.
