The Wemco Security Company recently celebrated its 14th anniversary with a week of activities that ended with a fun day last Saturday.
Retired Police Inspector and former Director of Security at Bahamas Telecommunications Company Henry Wemyss founded Wemco in 2000.
Employees of the company were teamed up to compete in various sporting events throughout the day.
The tradition of hosting the fun day and other activities started when Wemco's current CEO, Acribba Wemyss, took over the helm of the company from her father after his retirement, and decided that one of her top priorities would be to keep staff morale as high as it was when her father ran the company. The employees were divided into four teams for the competitions. The names of the teams were Peace, Love, Unity and Joy.
The teams competed in three-legged races, hot dog eating contests, sack races; push up contests, 50-meter dashes, volleyball matches, egg and spoon races as well as speech competitions.
The hype for the fun day was lingering around the office for some time, as the time drew near there was a sense of competition in the workplace.
After all of the back and forth, Team Joy emerged as the champions of Wemco's Anniversary Fun Day. They dominated the majority of the events and pulled away with not only the victory, but also bragging rights for the rest of the year.
"It is indeed a testimony of God's faithfulness to be able to stand here today as the CEO of Wemco Security, the leading security firm in The Bahamas," said Wemyss.
"This month, we celebrate 14 years of successful business. The people may change, the economy might change, but God never changes."
After a fun-filled week, employees were invited to a church service at New Destiny Baptist Church. During the service, Wemco made a donation to the church.
Wemco remains committed to sustaining the high standards of quality products and services that its clients deserve, according to Wemyss. The management at Wemco has a vision to be recognized throughout The Commonwealth of The Bahamas as the best company to keep for maximum protection of life and property.
