Bahamas to host Top 50 camp

The Bahamas Basketball Federation (BBF) and Bahamas Global Sports Foundation will host a media conference on April 14 to announce the names of the 50 best high school players in the country and also the Bahamas Top 50 Basketball Camp. The camp will take place during the Bahamas International Coaches Clinic on July 23-6 in New Providence.
Committee Chair and Director of Basketball Operations at CSA Basketball Academy in Nassau, Bahamas Marvin J. Henfield, met to finalize the list of Bahamian born athletes ages 13 - 19.
The camp will also feature several elite athletes who have traveled abroad to the United States including the number one ranked freshmen in the United States, 6'10" DeAndre Ayton of Nassau, Bahamas who currently attends Balboa City High School in San Diego, California.
Colorado State University coaches Larry Eustachy and Steve Barnes coach the Bahamas National Team.
"Creating the ranking system will allow us to identify future members of the national team and support their ongoing success," said Barnes.
NBA Hall of Fame player Alex English, and Carmelo Anthony's high school coach, Mike Daniel, will lead the Bahamas Top 50 Camp. Daniel currently coaches at New Town High School in Owings Mills, Maryland.
The athletes invited will participate in three days of drills, training and games during the camp. The NCAA certification application is pending approval for the Bahamas Basketball Federation as its supporters is confirming participation of Division 1 coaches and scouts.
Athletes will receive a notification this week of their recognition and an invitation to the Top 50 Camp.
A press conference will be held in the Bahamas on April 14 to announce the Top 50 and the upcoming program. The camp will take place at the Kendal G. L. Isaacs National Gymnasium.

Committee members of The Bahamas International Coaches Clinics, and Bahamas Global Sports Foundation led in the development of the new ranking system of the Top 50 camp.
The BBF serves to exercise a leadership role in the promotion and development of the sport of basketball in The Bahamas. It has been leading the basketball movement as delegated by FIBA Americas and CONCENCABA, through programs and services for all levels of athletes, participants, leaders and volunteers.
