Website seeking to make searching easier

Recognizing the frustration that many Bahamians may feel when trying to find a specific business and are having no luck with the white pages, Theodore Bastian has found a way to make that search easier, with the creation of the Placesfound.com website.
In this week's edition of Da Plunge, Bastian, the site's owner, said he developed and designed the website with the intent of helping people find places that are "typically hard to find" and expressed confidence that it will become an essential service, particularly for the business community. Already, the web-based product is beginning to gain momentum since its launch.
"I wanted to be able to give businesses an online presence through web marketing. I wanted to be able to make a global impact, with a product that can be used by millions of customers, both nationally and internationally," he said.
By the end of the year, Bastian said he intends to have more than 5,000 businesses registered with Placesfound.com, covering Nassau and the Family Islands.
"If you're unsuccessful in your white pages searches, Placesfound.com is the next step. Unlike the white pages, our intent is not to list the numbers of businesses or run ads, but to list the direction of places," Bastian revealed.
"The site has the ability to find government buildings, attorneys, doctors' offices, new businesses and shops.
"We are quickly building up our database of places that web users are constantly looking for," he added.
He confirmed that the decision to create Placesfound.com came out of a desire to tap into the online market of web development after getting into web design approximately three years ago.
"As a web designer, I build websites that would solve problems for people who need user-friendly services online," Bastian shared.
He also announced plans to target both the Canadian and American markets next year.
