With just two shopping days left before Christmas, some businesses are already cashing in, reporting a significant increase in sales this year.

In fact, William Young, the vice president of Young's Champagne, located in Sandyport, estimated that in his business alone he has seen anywhere from a 10 to 20 percent increase this year in comparison to 2012. He credits most of it to a strong marketing campaign undertaken year-round.

"Right now, things have been crazy for us. For sure, we have definitely seen an increase in sales," he explained. "I think it's improved so much because people know us better.

We have become a much more recognizable brand as a liquor retailer and distributor. It's mainly due to marketing.

We have increased our range of products, our teams and opened up a store. All of these have aided us to do better this year."

"We've seen a good increase, I would say around a 10- 20 percent increase in sales in comparison to last year." Customs Computers Ltd. is also reporting a sales increase this Christmas in comparison to last year.

Latoya Miller, manager for the firm's Solomon's Supercenter branch, told Guardian Business that its Samsung laptops, iPads with Retina Display, Samsung SIII Mini phones, along with the iPhone 5S and 5C have been some of the more popular items that customers have been purchasing.

"Sales are going great, definitely better than last year. Advertising, pushing the product and repeat customers are the key factors that we believe have led to the increase in sales.

It's a lot better than last year," she said. Sales have also picked up at stores like Fab Finds, Tommy Hilfiger and His Fashion. While numbers have been strong for the Christmas season, the owner of these stores, Etienne Christen, admitted that overall 2013 has been a challenging year for retail.

"Overall, it's been a challenging year but Christmas sales are looking strong.

It seems like the economy is recovering now. That has been the case for all of my stores," he said to Guardian Business.
