Family Guardian/Barracuda staged a successful swim meet

The Betty Kelly-Kenning National Aquatics Centre was filled to capacity as spectators were from Abaco, Grand Bahama and New Providence, and watched as swimmers tried to achieve times to qualify for the upcoming 23rd Speedo Winter Championships, at the Family Guardian/Barracuda Swim Invitational. The 23rd Speedo Championships will be held in Plantation, Florida from November 21-24, 2013.
Dion Gibson, president of the Barracuda Swim Club, said: "We are grateful to Family Guardian for supporting and sponsoring our club these past 28 years. We look forward to this continued relationship."
In the eight-and-under girls, Salene Gibson of Barracuda Swim Club got the high point trophy with a score of 108 points and Ella Albury of Swift Swimming walked away with the runner-up trophy with a score of 96 points. In the eight-and-under boys, Abaco Swim Club swept this division with Brayden Dam walking away with the high point trophy and Maddox Pinder taking the runner-up trophy with scores of 120 and 79 respectively.
Jewel Pinder of the Abaco Swim Club won the high point trophy in the girls' 9-10 division with a score of 113 and the runner-up trophy went to Anya McPhail of Swift Swimming with a score of 108. For the boys' 9-10 division, Barracuda Swim Club swept this division with Ralph Wood III taking the high point trophy with 112 points, and his fellow teammate Ian Pinder taking the runner-up trophy with 105 points.
In the girls' 11-12 division, Amber Pinder of the Barracuda Swim Club took the high point trophy with 126 points, and the runner-up trophy went to her teammate Sian Longley with a score of 112 points. In the boys' 11-12 division, Joshua Roberts walked away with the high point trophy with a score of 137, and with a score of 111, Izaak Bastian of the Barracuda Swim Club took the runner-up trophy.
With a score of 100 points, Jazmine Gibson of Swift Swimming walked away with the high point trophy in the girls' 13-14 division, and she was followed closely by Barracuda Swim Club's Kaitlyn Slatter who was the runner-up with a score of 99 points. For the boys' 13-14 division, Gershwin Greene took the high point trophy, and the runner-up trophy went to Cameron Riley with scores of 110 and 104 points respectively. Both boys are from the Barracuda Swim Club.
In the 15-and-over, the Barracuda Swim Club swept this division. For the girls, with a score of 106 points, Courtney Neil took the high point trophy and the runner-up trophy went to Doran Reed with 91 points. Kohen Kerr, with a score of 126 points, won the high point trophy and Meshach Roberts took the runner-up trophy with 117 points in the boys' division.
Coach Travano McPhee, senior competitive coach of the Barracuda Swim Club, stated: "We were happy to see so many swimmers out. This meet was very competitive as swimmers were trying to qualify for Plantation."
