Best Buy shutting down

Fri, Nov 1st 2013, 11:42 AM

After almost two decades in operation, Best Buy will close its doors for good this weekend, Guardian Business can confirm.
While details were scant up to press time, as key staff members were said to be busy tying up loose ends ahead of the shutdown, sources close to the furniture retailer admitted the closure will take place and sales are currently underway to clear inventory.
Masters Technicians, its affiliate, will remain open, Guardian Business understands.
Company representatives did not return detailed messages left regarding the pending closure over the past two days, however a source with knowledge of the situation said that the closure came as business at the furniture store had slumped in recent times and in light of what is being viewed as an "unfriendly" business environment.
According to Best Buy's website, the company began operations in 1995. The company sold bedroom, dining room, living room, and entertainment-related furniture items from a 14,000-square-foot store on Village Road.
It is not clear how many employees will be impacted by the closure.
