Next weekend, approximately 100 young sailors from all parts of The Bahamas will come together for one of the most hotly contested competitions of the Bahamas Sailing Association's (BSA's) calendar.

The competition, the 2013 Optimist National Sailing Championships, will be held this year in beautiful Governor's Harbour, Eleuthera, with the course being laid out within one of the country's most spectacular natural harbors. The event will showcase a backdrop of 19th century wooden captain's cottages that give testament to the rich sailing heritage of the Bahamian people.

The host of this year's event is the Eleuthera Sailing and Swimming School, a voluntary organization that has 20 boats for teaching, sailing and swimming for the local youngsters up to the age of 16.

All events for this regatta are under the jurisdiction of the BSA.
