­BEC rate increase having impact

A government decision to approve a 5 percent rate increase at the Bahamas Electricity Corporation(BEC)-coupled with typically higher energy consumption during the summer months-is impacting electricity bills in homes and businesses.
It's something business leaders say speak to the need for government-led initiatives promoting better energy conservation throughout the country.
