BFS in Prime merger deal

Leading food distributor, Bahamas Food Services, will today conclude a "merger" with fellow wholesaler Prime Bahamas, acquiring the latter's inventory and assets, plus taking on most of its 52 staff, its proprietor telling Tribune Business: "I'm tired of the fight."

Garland Evans, who built Prime Bahamas into one of the Bahamas' leading wholesalers over the past 26 years, yesterday said the tough economy, combined with him "running out of gas", had led him to accept what he described as "a very fair offer" from Gladstone Road-based, Bahamas Food Services, to create a new, enlarged wholesaling force.
