Over 200 Haitians repatriated

More than 200 undocumented Haitian immigrants were repatriated to their impoverished homeland over the weekend, immigration officials said.
"The Bahamas Immigration Department continues to be vigilant in its sustained efforts to apprehend and repatriate those attempting to enter The Bahamas illegally, as well as those residing and working illegally in the country,"Director of Immigration Jack Thompson said yesterday in a statement.
He confirmed that on Saturday, the department repatriated 211 immigrants, including 144 apprehended in the Exuma chain and 67 apprehended in New Providence.
