Bahamas Humane Society updates

Hello, all! I hope you're managing to stay warm through this latest cold snap. Don't forget that your outside animals will need shelter and warm blankets to snuggle up into!

Thank you to all those who have helped support the 2013 BHumane Banner Campaign and to Lombard Odier for providing overall sponsorship. The banners will be coming down next week, and we'll let you know, those of you that bought yours, when you can pick them up.

The BHS will have a table at the BKC Show on Saturday and Sunday, March 16th and 17th. The show will be at Bahamas Food Services on Gladstone Road. Bring your dog and enjoy a couple of fun days out! The BHS table will be selling t-shirts, mugs, tags, and more. If you're able to volunteer for a couple of hours either day, please let me know.

Adoption/Rescue Dog Parade! As part of this year's BKC Show, there will be a parade of adoption/rescue dogs to be held at noon on Saturday, March 16th. If you've adopted a dog from the BHS or from one of our island's many rescue groups, or rescued one yourself, why not bring him/her out for the occasion? It's a great opportunity to show your pride in your furry family members. Please contact Amanda Meyers (376-0364; ameyers2001@yahoo.com) if you'd like to participate. All participants will receive a goodie bag from Purina, sponsor of the BKC Show.

Raffle tickets are still available! Thank you and good luck to those who have already bought theirs. If you'd like to enter for a chance to win a trip for two to London, New York, or one of three Family Islands, please contact us at the Shelter or give a BHS Board member a call. Tickets are $100 and are available at the Shelter. The raffle will be drawn on Saturday, March 30th.

Plans are under way for this year's Animal Fun Day, sponsored by Pedigree. This day of family fun will be held on Sunday, April 21st in the Botanical Gardens from 12 noon to 6 p.m. Does your dog have the waggiest tail? Do you and your dog look alike? Ask a question of the vet. Speak with Jim Crosby, animal behaviourist. Check out the kissing booth and face painting. There will be dog contests, kids' games, lots of food and more. Bring your dog; bring your children; bring your entire family! If you'd like to volunteer, please contact me or Laura Kimble kimblelaura@gmail.com

Did you know? It costs approximately $2,900/day to run the BHS Shelter! Are you a member? If not, why not join us today. Membership is our bread and butter (and kibble, too!).

Have a great day! Linda
