Salvation Army Holds Awards Ceremony

The Salvation Army Bahamas Division Advisory Board held its appreciation and awards ceremony at the Governor's Ballroom of the British Colonial Hilton Hotel on Friday, February 15. During the ceremony several, community organisations, businesspersons and community leaders were awarded for contributions made to the success of the organisation.

Among those receiving an award was Superintendent Stephen Dean of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, co-ordinator of the Urban Renewal 2.0 Programme. Superintendent Dean was awarded the Salvation’s Army Community Service Award for positively affecting the community and touching the lives of others.

Divisional Commander of the Salvation Army Major Lester Ferguson commended Commissioner Ellison Greenslade and members of the Royal Bahamas Police Force for contributions made to the Salvation Army over the years. In attendance at the ceremony were Governor General Sir Arthur and Lady Foulkes, Minister of Social Services Melanie Griffin, MP Loretta Butler Turner, former Governor General Sir Orville Turnquest, and Territorial Commander of the Salvation Army for the Caribbean Colonel Onal Castor and Mrs Castor.
