Alliance Francaise Movie Club presents "Derniere Etage Gauche Gauche" ("Last Floor, West Wing") Friday, February 1st, 2013 At 6:30pm Alliance Francaise, Ocean Place, Cable Beach

February's film, a comedy, is entitled "Dernière Etage Gauche Gauche" (Top Floor, Left Wing). It is a 2010 French comedy film by Angelo Cianci that won the Panorama FIPRESCI Award at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2011.

A day like any other, or is it? A bailiff designated by the courts has to go to a housing project in the suburbs to make a list of property to be seized and sold to cover unpaid debts of a family.

It's the anniversary of 9/11, and he finds himself confronted with a father and his agitated son who take him hostage....For 24 hours they are trapped on the 7th floor of a low housing project apartment building surrounded by the French GIGN (SWAT) who take them for terrorists.

Since June 2009, The Alliance Francaise des Bahamas has regularly held its French Movie Club on the first Friday of each month. These films are a part of its efforts to promote the French language and culture in The Bahamas and expose adults, adolescents and young children to a foreign language. All films are shown in the French version with English subtitles. Films are provided by the Institut Français.
