When executives of CIBC FirstCaribbean Bahamas encouraged sales staff to go out and meet with individuals and businesses in the community, little were they aware of the impact that would have on staff, business and the public. The initiative is called "Pound the Pavement" and it was launched over six weeks ago.

As the bank's new financial year gets underway, the momentum from the exercise is still high and the bank's employees are eagerly continuing to "pound the pavement" in search of new client relationships. In explaining "Pound the Pavement", the bank's Managing Director, Customer Relationship Management and Strategy Trevor Torzsas said: "Our business is about developing relationships. This is a chance for us to get out there and interact with our existing clients, meet new ones, and tell them about the great financial solutions we have on offer.

Our dedicated and hard-working branch staff ought to be commended for really making the first wave of the 'Pound the Pavement' initiative successful. "In addition, we have listened to feedback from the public and revised the design of the flyer we give to the people we talk to. Our teams are already planning repeat visits to some of the areas they have already visited. The exercise is designed to advise the public about which of our products and services will suit them best, and to help them through the application process.

Our research shows that people are in the market for several of our products ranging from mortgages, auto loans, personal loans, savings plans, wealth management products and services, corporate accounts and financial management advice." The public has been very receptive to the initiative. Based on feedback that continues to come in from staff, the public has been "very impressed" to see representatives from the bank walking about, especially on a Saturday, taking the time to introduce themselves and the products and services offered by CIBC FirstCaribbean. With numerous calls and inquiries already received, prospective clients in The Bahamas can expect to see more of CIBC FirstCaribbean as its eager employees visit busy shopping areas to interact with people shopping around for financial services.
