Award-winning Bahamian American Engineer to Visit Nassau

Bahamian-American Engineer Aisha Bowe

August 29th, 2012 - Aisha Bowe, an award-winning Bahamian-American researcher in the Flight Trajectory Dynamics & Controls Branch of the Aviation Systems Division at NASA Ames Research Center will be visiting Nassau, Bahamas as a guest of her grandfather Mr. Forester Bowe. She will be conducting interviews and discussions on the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). These discussions will shed light on the importance of STEM for the Bahamas and the greater Caribbean sub region.

Earlier this year Ms. Bowe led an effort to bring a College of the Bahamas student, Terran Arnold Mr. on a 8-week internship at NASA Ames. She hopes to engage the local government and civic organizations on supporting student initiatives such as this.

Ms. Felicity Ingraham of True Vision Media Group will be coordinating her schedule (empressfelicity@gmail.com). The tentative plan is to hold a Question & Answer session on Thursday evening with students, teachers and parents on STEM, and the college application process after which Ms. Bowe will open the forum to general questions. Ms. Bowe believes the Bahamas and the Caribbean sub-region are strategically placed to contribute in areas such as Earth Science, Remote Sensing, Global Communication links, and more. The time and location of the Q & A session is pending, but will be released via TheBahamasWeekly.com, Facebook, and various media sources.
