Bahamian Prime Minister to attend Hotel Conference in Miami

PRIME MINISTER OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF THE BAHAMAS TO SPEAK AT AFRICAN AMERICAN HOTEL OWNERS & INVESTMENT SUMMIT IN MIAMI.

Fort Lauderdale, FL —Bahamian Prime Minister Perry Christie will be the luncheon keynote speaker at the 16th Annual International African American Hotel Ownership & Investment Summit & Trade Show on July 25-28 at the Doral Golf Resort & Spa.

Prime Minister Christie will address hundreds of stakeholders in the Tourism industry at the summit on Friday, July 27 as well as meet with a multitude of private investors and attend several investment receptions during his trip to Miami. The Prime Minister has made it a cornerstone of his administration to increase new investment and revitalize the tourism sector and will be looking to provide more opportunities for local Bahamians to take ownership in this growing industry.

The Bahamas is expected to have a full contingent of tourism and investment executives at the summit, including Minister of State for Investments Khaalis E. Rolle.

ABOUT THE SUMMIT: The four-day summit is designed to educate attendees on how to become a hotel owner or investor, share minority investment trends, explore supplier opportunities and decide how to market to minorities and diversity issues affecting the industry. The summit opens on Wednesday, July 25 with the National Association of Black Hotel Owners Operators and Developers’ Historically Black College/University scholarship golf tournament that morning on the Great White Course at the world famous Doral to raise money for minority hospitality students. It will be followed at noon with an Orientation Program for new and prospective hotel owners, committee meetings, the opening General Session and a welcome reception in the evening.

As always a contingent of Hospitality students from The College of The Bahamas will be in attendance to gain further insight on the field. General sessions and workshops will be held Thursday and Friday with student workshops on Friday and Saturday morning followed by the NABHOOD career fair and job expo. The NABHOOD corporate dinners will take place Thursday evening to allow new & potential owners to spend time with their preferred hotel brand (eligible attendees must sign up in advance and is based on availability). Several hotel companies will have Corporate Suites during the summit and it is encouraged to visit them for additional information. The NABHOOD Awards Luncheon is on Thursday to recognize individuals and companies that have demonstrated through their actions a commitment to diversity while providing opportunities to minorities. The Trade Show will be on Friday in addition to our “Focus on the Caribbean”, where investors and interested persons can meet Caribbean government investment and hotel representatives to hear about investment opportunities and incentives.

This summit has become a leading industry event for individuals and/or companies interested in African American hotel development & ownership and the multicultural tourism market. Attendees include senior level executives, entrepreneurs, national leaders, hospitality representatives, professional athletes, Convention & Visitors Bureaus and U.S. & foreign government representatives.
