Two more murders occurred Monday night, pushing to nine the number of murders recorded in the span of a week, police confirmed.
Police said a man in his late 30s was shot multiple times as he approached a residence off Soldier Road around 11 p.m.
The second murder occurred on Grand Bahama, where police said a man was stabbed to death in the Pinedale area, Eight Mile Rock, around 10 p.m.
The 46-year-old victim, a resident of Hanna Hill, was stabbed multiple times to his upper back, police said.
It was the fifth murder on Grand Bahama for the year. So far for 2012, 54 murders have been recorded nationally.
Police asked for the public's assistance in solving these latest murders. The murder count has outpaced last year's record up to this period by 17 percent.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Anthony Ferguson said police are very concerned about the recent murders.

"We are doing everything that we can to detect the persons who are responsible and prevent the murders from happening," Ferguson said. "As we investigate we try to determine if any of the recent matters are related."
According to police, when a considerable number of murders occur in a short space of time, top officers meet to consider strategies to combat the spike.
President of The Bahamas Christian Council Rev. Dr. Ranford Patterson said yesterday the county is in trouble.
"We have to do our part as a country and I don't think we've done a good job in raising our children," he said. "We are reaping what we have sown. I don't have the answers, but we have to be our brother's keepers."
Prime Minister Perry Christie said recently that the country is facing a crime 'crisis' and has pledged to get to work immediately in the fight against it.
"This is no longer about winning votes; it's about stopping the slaughter on our streets and putting criminals behind bars," Christie said.
"When you see us reach a point where five murders are committed within 48 hours, we have to know that we are in a crisis that calls for immediate, resolute and sustained action."
