Burger King Joins Fight Against Child Abuse

NASSAU, 8 May 2012….. Burger King, an active supporter of charities that contribute to the welfare of children in The Bahamas, has now joined in the fight against child abuse through contributions to the National Child Protection Council.

As April is Child Protection Month, the NCPC has once again set forth its efforts through a number of prevention and awareness initiatives that bring focus to the types, prevalence and prevention of child abuse. The NCPC partners with the Department of Social Services and other stakeholders in recognizing Child Protection Month each year. This year, one of the methods used to sensitize, educate and increase public awareness about child abuse is through t-shirts. Each t-shirt depicts a blue ribbon (blue, the official color of child abuse awareness) along with the NCPC’s selected theme in the front of the t-shirt and the phone contacts for the Child Abuse and National Hotlines.

“We happily support programs that benefit and play an important role in the positive development of a child’s life,” said Deidre Young, Director of Operations for Burger King. “As child abuse is an issue that society should be aware of, we are happy to support the National Child Protection Council’s long-standing commitment to raise awareness, prevent and fight against child abuse in our society.”
