Fifty thousand public school students will return to school today in a system that has been plagued for years with reports of bad grades, discipline problems and cases of sexual misconduct.
Some of the system's most ardent critics have concluded that public education in The Bahamas is in crisis.
In fact, five years ago, a group of private sector organizations said just that. The report by the Coalition for Education Reform(CER)--Bahamian Youth: The Untapped Resource--painted a dire picture of the state of education in 2005.
