FREEPORT, Grand Bahama -- The Grand Bahama branch of the Bahamas National Trust is pleased to announce that they will be hosting their first Farmer's Market called "Da Market" on Saturday February 25th from 9am to 1pm at the Rand Nature Centre.
The concept will be an open Farmer's Market where participants can sell fresh produce, plants, hand crafted items, homemade teas, oils and more.  Following the success of Nassau BNT markets, held monthly at The Retreat Gardens, Village Road , the GB BNT is hoping to offer an outlet for locals to sell their specialty items.
Cecelia Bodie, GB BNT Education Officer, met with interested members in January and their first event is now scheduled for this Saturday starting at 9am.  "We hope this opportunity will allow members and nonmembers to showcase some of the unique items they create as well as sell their goods to the local community," said Bodie. "There's nothing like fresh grown fruits and vegetables or home made jellies and jams."
Persons interested in participating can call 352-5438 for more information or stop by the Rand Nature Centre for an application.  There is no registration fee for the first two markets, but persons interested in Da Market must pre-register to participate.  Admission is FREE to anyone coming to shop at the market and the Trust is hoping many will turn out to support these local farmers.
