New Year's Eve Dining

If you haven't already done so, it's time to make the decision as to where you'll be enjoying your New Year's meals, and as usual, the restaurants around the island are pulling out all the stops. And of course I had to make inquiries to see who is doing what to know where I'll be dining. But if you haven't as yet made your decision, here are a number of options to choose from.
 
The Crab House and Seafood Emporium
The Crab House and Seafood Emporium's New Year's Eve dinner menu is a six-course extravaganza. For $85, you get a choice of a medley of seafood in a creamy white wine sauce served in puff pastry, or escargot, sautéed in butter with white wine, red onions, garlic and parsley, topped with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese, a Caesar salad, sorbet intermezzo, a choice between sautéed sea bass topped with a drizzle of lemon saffron sauce and roasted rosemary rack of lamb served with potatoes au gratin and seasonal vegetables and guava duff for dessert. Complimentary champagne is being offered, and reservations are advised. They are located at Collins Avenue and 6th Terrace, Centreville.
 
Montagu Gardens
At Montagu Gardens, their New Year's Eve menu consists of a three-course menu priced at $30 per person. You get mixed baby greens with dressing; roast prime rib of beef with stuffed Bahamian lobster topped with a sauce, roasted rosemary potatoes, glazed carrots and baked cauliflower with cheese. Your meal is finished with a choice of guava cheesecake or carrot cake. Montagu Gardens is located on East Bay Street.
 
Black Angus Grille
New Year's Eve dinner at the Black Angus Grille is a smorgasbord of offerings for $119. You get to choose between a dizzying array of menu items. From the appetizers, they have sesame crusted chicken spring rolls with orange, ginger, chili dip; shrimp cocktail with Marie Rose sauce and lemon; seared beef sirloin carpaccio with micro greens, truffle oil and herb aioli; and garlic roasted escargots with watercress and chive butter.  From the soups and salads, you get a choice of roasted pumpkin soup with allspice croutons and crème fraiche; Caesar salad with creamy garlic dressing, herbed croutons and warm bacon crisps; and butter lettuce wedge with crumbled stilton, green apple, pecans and herb vinaigrette.

The entrée section is a choice of beef filet and lobster duo, grilled filet of beef and spiny lobster with burgundy jus and champagne emulsion; rack of lamb Dijonnaise brushed with Dijon mustard and herbed brioche crust drizzled with rosemary jus; chicken supreme with shrimp skewer, island spiced breast of chicken and garlic black tiger shrimp with wild loquat chutney; salmon/crab pappiollte steamed salmon and crabmeat with summer julienne vegetables and herbed vermouth broth. All entrees are served with truffle croquettes and buttered vegetable medley.  The meal will be capped off with Chef Hanna's New Year's Eve chocolate sampler or caramelized bananas with cinnamon flamed with Nassau rum, French vanilla ice cream and sugar snaps.  The meal also includes a glass of champagne. Black Angus Grille is located in Wyndham Nassau Resort.
 
Seaside Buffet
Seaside Buffet in Wyndham also has a spread to choose from for $69 per adult, $35 children (aged one to 12).
The spread will showcase two soups, creamy conch chowder and mushroom and pumpkin bisque.
The salads on offer will be assorted green salad with condiments; shrimp and herb salad; tri-bean salad with mango vinaigrette; artichoke and palm salad with basil vinaigrette; pickled beets and mandarins with low-cal dressing; assorted cheeses with crackers; grilled vegetables in a garlic balsamic vinaigrette and smoked and cured meat tray. The raw bar will consist of chilled crab legs, marinated mussels, steam clams and poached shrimp.


Entrée selections include petit filet mignon with green peppercorn cognac sauce, sautéed chicken breast with tomato, mushroom marsala sauce; roast leg of lamb with rosemary jus; steamed salmon with shrimp and truffle butter sauce; stuffed pork loin with dried apricot and brandy; cheese tortellinis with gorgonzola cream; garlic smashed potatoes; vichy carrots and Basmati rice with lentil. And a roast prime rib au jus with Yorkshire carving station.
There will also be a pasta bar and baked potato action station.
For desserts the offers include fruit cobbler, bread and banana pudding and assorted mini tarts, pies, pastries, English trifle and chocolate mousse. Seaside Buffet is located in Wyndham Nassau Resort.
 
Harbourfront Lounge
At the Harbourfront Lounge, for $85 per person, you get to enjoy a three-course meal of seared sea scallops over organic mixed greens with lemon vinaigrette; a choice of grilled beef
tenderloin with wild mushroom ragout served with potato croquettes and wilted spinach or lobster tail with garlic and sherry cream sauce served with basmati rice and asparagus. Dessert will be chocolate Grand Marnier mousse with Chantilly cream.
 
SUPERCLUBS BREEZES
SuperClubs Breezes will also put out a buffet spread at their New Year's gala for $110 per person. For that price, you enjoy iced cocktail shrimp and Caribbean crab claws at the raw bar; creamy seafood chowder with sweet potato and coconut dumplings, roasted plantain bisque with green tomatoes and crawfish butter at the soup station; a salad bar that invites you to mix it up as you like; coffee and pimento rubbed beef tenderloin with Nassau Royale soaked craisins, almond crusted chicken breast with sorrel and ginger sauce, lamb chops with tomato jam with mint, seafood stuffed fish with charred tomato champagne beurre blanc, Caribbean curried rice with dates and roasted almonds, green beans almondine, herb-marinated potatoes, broccoli au gratin, Caribbean-style ratatouille, bourbon-glazed carrots, tamarind-glazed pork loin with apples and guava wood smoked bacon and citrus-splashed Bahamian broiled lobster tails.

They say their dessert offerings will be an unforgettable display.  SuperClubs Breezes is located on Cable Beach.

THE GREEN PARROT
A four-course meal of Cream of broccoli soup, mixed baby greens with a Caesar vinaigrette salad, an eight-ounce lobster tail and rack of lamb for the entrée accompanied with mixed vegetables and a baked potato with cheesecake for dessert. The special menu is priced at $70 and includes a champagne toast. It's being billed as a family fun New Year's bash which starts at 7 pm and goes until, allowing you to party in family friendly atmosphere. They are located on East Bay Street.

And while enjoying your meal, don't forget, gratuity will be added to your bill -- so factor in at least another 15 percent.
