THE country's two largest supermarket chains say their products are not affected by the widespread egg recall in the United States.

However, Charmaine Price, assistant director of the Ministry of Agriculture's food safety unit, said she was not aware of the recall and could not say if her counterparts in the US had contacted the Bahamas about possible salmonella contamination.

Around 380 million eggs have been recalled in the US since last week because of fears they might be contaminated with salmonella. According to the US Food and Drug Administration, the recalled brands are Lucerne, Albertson, Mountain ...
