Cabinet Office Statement: New Appointments to Public Service Commission

Public Service Commission The Cabinet Office advised today that Mr. Brian Moree QC, has been appointed Chairman of the Public Service Commission. Mr. Moree is Senior Partner and Head of Litigation in the chambers of McKinney Bancroft and Hughes.

Admitted to the Bahamas Bar in 1979, Mr. Moree has acted as a Stipendiary and Circuit Magistrate and as a Justice of the Supreme Court of The Bahamas. He has served on numerous Government Boards and Commissions including the Judicial Salary Review Commission and The Bahamas Electricity Corporation.

In 2007, he was named Executive of the Year by The Bahamas Financial Board in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Financial Services Industry in The Bahamas. Other Members of the Board are: Mrs. Pauline Allen-Dean, Mr. A. Leonard Archer, Mr. Everette Hart, and Mr. Maxwell Poitier.

Mrs. Allen-Dean is a former Managing Director of The Bank of The Bahamas and prior to that appointment was for many years a member of senior management of Barclay’s Bank PLC. Mr. A. Leonard Archer is a former educator and Trade Unionists. Former principal of CC Sweeting High School, Mr. Archer has served as Director of Labour and as Bahamas Ambassador to the Caribbean Community.

Mr. Everette Hart is a retired senior public officer having served in the Department of Local Government and as a Senior Family Island Administrator and as Parliamentary Registrar. Mr. Maxwell Poitier began his career in the public service in the Central Bank of The Bahamas. He later served in the Auditor General’s Department. He retired from the Ministry of Public Works where he had served as Under Secretary.
