More than 40 rare and vintage race cars, many valued in the millions, arrived in Nassau from the U.S. and U.K. this weekend in anticipation of Bahamas Speed Week Revival.

The 8-event, 5-day series kicks off on Wednesday when legendary driver Sir Stirling Moss and Governor General Sir Arthur Foulkes drive through the BTC gantry at Arawak Cay to the sound of a canon and the applause of locals, visitors and a slew of foreign media descending on Nassau for the series.

Other cars will follow one at a time for the ceremonial lap along West Bay Street where traffic will be diverted from noon for the parade where the cars are the stars. Pictured is a 1955 Lister Bristol valued at $750,000 and owned by an international aviation chairman. Bahamas Speed Week President Jimmie Lowe, in white shirt, helps guide it safely to the secure paddock on Arawak Cay where tickets went on sale this morning.
