FIREMEN extinguished a blaze at an 11-room Pinewood Gardens home in less than 10 minutes.

The owner of the single-story stone structure was changing a light bulb in the southwestern bedroom when the electrical fixture shocked him. The man dropped the bulb on the mattress, which caught fire. The bedroom was said to have received extensive fire damage.

Fire services were called to the home at Sapodilla Boulevard shortly after 8pm Saturday, and officials said the blaze took five minutes to put out.

The kitchen, dining and utility rooms received minor fire damage, and the remaining rooms were only affected by the smoke. The man was taken to hospital for treatment.
