Parliament has officially been dissolved after Commissioner of Police Shanta Knowles, serving as Provost Marshal, read a proclamation issued by Governor General Cynthia Pratt.
This action clears the way for a general election scheduled for May 12, 2026.
Writs of election will be released on Thursday, April 9, which will also close the voter register.
With the dissolution, the current legislative term ends and all seats in the House of Assembly are vacated ahead of the national vote.
The next parliamentary sitting is set for May 20.
