Dr. Hubert Minnis To Formally Launch Re-Election Bid for Killarney

Tue, Apr 7th 2026, 09:45 AM

Dr. Hubert Minnis, the Member of Parliament for Killarney, will officially launch his re-election campaign this Saturday, April 11. The event takes place from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Killarney Constituency Headquarters on West Bay Street, Delaporte.

Since 2007, Dr. Minnis has served as the representative for West New Providence. His decision to seek re-election as an independent candidate centers on a long-standing personal commitment to the residents of his constituency. The launch event serves as a community gathering where neighbors can meet, discuss local issues, and hear the specific roadmap Dr. Minnis has developed for the area’s future.

"I have faith and confidence that the people of Killarney will return me as their Member of Parliament," Dr. Minnis stated. "My commitment to this community has never wavered, and I will be there for you just as you have been there for me for nearly twenty years."

The campaign, running under the slogan Killarney Strong, emphasizes a track record of local presence and advocacy. Considering the uphill battle independent campaigns have faced in The Bahamas, Dr. Minnis noted that his independent run focuses on the unique needs of the Killarney district.

"This campaign is about a bond that goes beyond party lines," said Dr Minnis. "These are my neighbors and I’ve been an unwavering leader who knows every corner of this constituency. We are moving forward with a clear vision to keep our community safe, prosperous, and Killarney Strong."

The afternoon will feature a DJ, refreshments, and an open forum for questions. All residents and members of the media are invited to attend. Dr. Minnis will be available for photos and direct dialogue with attendees throughout the evening.
