Grand Bahama kicks off Majority Rule celebrations with 2026 Pineyard Rush Senior Junkanoo Parade

To kick off the week-long Majority Rule celebrations, hundreds of residents and visitors lined Explorer’s Way to witness the highly-anticipated Pineyard Rush Senior Junkanoo Parade on Friday, January 9, 2026.

The parade officially opened with remarks from Grand Bahama Minister Ginger Moxey and Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture Mario Bowleg.

Junkanoo groups impressed attendees with vibrant performances, showcasing creative themes ranging from Jewels of The Bahamas and magnificent expressions of diverse cultures to the splendors of Ancient Egypt.

The Pineyard Rush Senior Junkanoo Parade delivered an unforgettable start to the Majority Rule celebrations. As the final group crossed the route, the energy remained high for the announcement of parade scores and the all-Bahamian block party on Saturday, January 10, 2026.
