Joining healthcare: new TCN's and pharmacy, emergency medical, and billing & coding technicians

The Public Hospitals Authority in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Wellness held a graduation ceremony for the Class of 2025 of the Public Hospitals Academy (PHA Academy) on Friday, November 28, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish Hall.  Held under the theme, “Rising to the Challenge, Ready for the Call,” the 71 graduates came from Grand Bahama and New Providence. 

Minister of Health and Wellness, the Hon. Dr. Michael Darville said healthcare in The Bahamas looks very bright with these graduates playing their part in nation building. The graduates comprised 32 Trained Clinical Nurses, 16 Pharmacy Technicians, nine Emergency Medical Technicians and 14 Medical Billing and Coding technicians.  Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Philip Davis gave the keynote address, declaring “together you strengthen the backbone of our public health service," and “you must keep growing." 

As such, the Prime Minister noted, PHA is expanding access to new programs such as Post-Basic Renal Nursing, Surgical Technology, and Emerging Leadership.  Also present at the ceremonies were the Minister of Education and Technical and Vocational Training, the Hon. Glenys Hanna-Martin; PHA Chairman Andrew Edwards; and PHA Managing Director Dr. Aubynette Rolle.
