The Ministry for Grand Bahama once again joined forces with local businesses and organizations to host the Innovate Grand Bahama High School Career Fair on November 21, 2025. Twenty-three companies met with students from high schools across the island at the Belinda Wilson Convention Centre, offering them first-hand exposure to a wide range of industries and career paths.

During her welcome address, Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Ginger Moxey underscored the importance of the event to the students’ futures and the continued growth of the Bahamian workforce.

“The Government of The Bahamas is focused on bridging the skills gap in our nation’s workforce; and the recent launch of the Ministry of Education and Technical and Vocational Training’s national initiative, Upskill Bahamas, is a critical part of our strategy,” she said. “Upskill Bahamas gives Bahamians residing on every island access to free online education and professional certifications from globally recognized institutions.”

Minister Moxey noted that the Innovate Grand Bahama High School Career Fair provides a meaningful platform for companies to engage with “bright young minds” while encouraging students to pursue further studies and training in high-demand fields. She emphasized that this initiative supports the island’s need for skilled professionals in both existing and future industries.

“For this very reason, the Ministry for Grand Bahama continues to collaborate with companies and agencies across the island to create an informative, interactive environment,” Moxey said.

“This career fair showcases opportunities spanning diverse sectors, from industrial and technical to educational, maritime, real estate, law, medicine, agriculture, military and more.”

The Minister also encouraged students to maximize the resources provided.

“Connect with mentors, explore potential career paths, and dream big. Your ideas and aspirations matter, and they are vital to shaping the future of Grand Bahama and our nation,” she said.
