The Public Treasury Department celebrates the Bahamas 52nd Independence Anniversary

The Public Treasury Department on July 1 commemorated National Flag Day, celebrating the 52nd Anniversary of Bahamas Independence with a Flag Raising Ceremony at the department, and festivities with Bahamian pride on full display.  Offices, decorated in National Flag colours, local crafts providing decorative accents; and staff in Independence gold, black and aqua, enjoying refreshments after the Flag Raising.

The Treasurer (not present at the time) Barbara Zonicle, in her event programme Message stated, the Public Treasury, Central Accounting Agency for the Government of The Bahamas marked 111 years this year, on March 21, having begun with 4 persons, now numbering 250 officers, inclusive of Executive Management, Technical and Administrative staff, including Support and Clerical officers, servicing over 57 Expenditure Heads.

The Treasury, she stated, has been in reform mode for a number of years with a number of upgrading developments.  Recent reforms now include the implementation of Oracle Fusion Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) that commences with Payroll and Human Resources modules and eventual rollout of Financial Management modules, operating on accrual accounting.
