GB Power announces planned shutdown for Hurricane Irene

FREEPORT, Grand Bahama
Island - Grand Bahama Power Company wishes to advise our customers
that we continue to monitor the storm as it approaches Grand Bahama and
are in a state of readiness.

Due to the predicted high wind gusts
associated with Hurricane Irene, we are aware that customers will be
experiencing storm related outages.  The company also wishes to
advise customers that based on the latest information received from
the Bahamas Met office; we are preparing to initiate a controlled shutdown
of our generation system at

approximately 9am Thursday morning. This
is to protect our system from the impact of the storm to be in position
to begin restoration efforts as soon as possible after the storm passes.
