General Situation: A cold front will exit the Southern Bahamas tonight as high pressure builds across the islands through the next few days. Expect mostly sunny, warm and dry conditions into Saturday. The high will shift eastwards as a cold front is poised to enter the Northwest Bahamas late Saturday into Sunday with some showers and isolated thunderstorms spreading across the islands. Meanwhile, swells will continue to impact the islands into the weekend. The aforementioned cold front will stall across the area into Monday then dissipate. High pressure will again build across the islands in wake of the front providing pleasant conditions to the middle of the upcoming week. 

Thursday 16th – Partly sunny, warm and breezy across the Northwest and Central Bahamas to partly cloudy and breezy with a few isolated showers across the Southeastern islands. Mostly fair and mild at night across all areas. Maximum temperature 76°F and minimum temperature 64°F. A small craft advisory will be in effect due to ongoing swells. Beachgoers should refrain from entering the waters due to the high risk of dangerous rip currents along east coast beaches and Atlantic exposed shorelines. Winds NE’ly at 15 to 20 knots in the NW Bahamas and 15 to 25 knots in the Cntrl and SE Bahamas. Seas 4 to 6 feet nearshore and in sheltered areas in the NW Bahamas building up to 9 feet along Atlantic waters in N to NE’ly swells and 5 to 8 feet building up to 11 feet in the Cntrl and SE Bahamas in N to NE’ly swells.

Friday 17th – Partly to mostly sunny, warm and breezy with an isolated shower or two possible mainly across the SE Bahamas. A small craft advisory will be in effect for Atlantic exposures and a caution will be in effect for the remainder of the area due to lingering swells. Beachgoers should exercise caution due to the risk of rip currents along east coast beaches and Atlantic exposed shorelines.Maximum temperature 84°F and minimum temperature 67°F.  Winds E to SE at 15 to 20 knots and gusty at times across the SE Bahamas. Seas 4 to 6 feet nearshore and in sheltered areas and up to 8 feet offshore and along Atlantic exposed waters in NE’ly swells. 

Saturday 18th – Partly sunny, warm and breezy with the chance of a few spotty showers during the day. Partly cloudy across the NW Bahamas with isolated showers to mostly fair and mild across the remainder of the Bahamas at night. Maximum temperature 86°F and minimum temperature 70°F. A small craft caution will be in effect. Beachgoers should exercise caution due to the risk of rip currents along east coast beaches and Atlantic exposed shorelines.  Winds SE to S at 15 to 20 knots in the NW and Cntrl Bahamas and E to SE at 15 to 20 knots in the SE Bahamas. Seas 4 to 7 feet over the ocean in NE’ly swells.

Sunday 19th – Partly cloudy to cloudy with scattered showers and the chance of an isolated thunderstorm or two along the frontal boundary. Maximum temperature 82°F and minimum temperature 68°F. A small craft caution will be in effect. Beachgoers should exercise caution due to the risk of rip currents along east and south coast beaches and Atlantic exposed shorelines.  Winds S’ly at 15 knots in the NW Bahamas and SE to S at 15 knots in the Cntrl and SE Bahamas. Seas 3 to 5 feet over the ocean.

Monday 20th – Variably cloudy with a few scattered showers and a slight chance of a thunderstorm or two. Boaters should remain alert for the possibility of a few waterspouts.  Maximum temperature 83°F and minimum temperature 67°F.  Winds variable at 5 to 10 knots in the NW Bahamas and SE to S at 10 to 15 knots in the Cntrl and SE Bahamas. Seas 2 to 4 feet over the ocean.

Tuesday 21st – Partly sunny and warm with the slight chance of a few isolated showers during the day. Mostly fair and mild at night. Maximum temperature 83°F and minimum temperature 66°F.  Winds variable at 5 to 10 knots in the NW and Cntrl Bahamas and E to SE at 10 to 15 knots in the SE Bahamas. Seas 2 to 4 feet over the ocean.

Wednesday 22nd – Partly sunny, warm and breezy with an isolated shower or two possible during the day. Variably cloudy with a stray shower or two possible at night. Maximum temperature 82°F and minimum temperature 66°F.  A small craft caution will be in effect for the NW Bahamas. Beachgoers should exercise caution due to the risk of rip currents along north and east coast beaches and Atlantic exposed shorelines. Winds NW to N at 15 to 20 knots in the NW Bahamas and S to SW at 10 to 15 knots in the Cntrl and SE Bahamas. Seas 4 to 7 feet over the ocean in the NW Bahamas and 2 to 4 feet in the Cntrl and SE Bahamas.

Beachgoers and mariners should be extremely vigilant due to rough surf and the high risk of dangerous rip currents during stated advisories. Mariners should heed warnings due to strong gusty winds and rough seas, along with possible localized waterspout activity.
